Allegation
Paul Hellewell was, on 13 May 2016, found guilty of professional misconduct of which included dishonesty, by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, and as a consequence of his proven misconduct a Section 43 Order (of the Solicitors Act 1974) was made against him in the terms that, in the opinion of the Society it would be undesirable for him to be employed or remunerated by anyone regulated by the SRA. An order to pay costs of £600.00 was also made.

Mr. Hellewell therefore is in breach of Principle 2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2015 which requires members to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct, Principle 3 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2015 which requires members behave with honesty and integrity and Principle 5 act competently in the best interests of your client and respect client confidentiality.

Outcome
Paul Hellewell admitted the misconduct and a Determination by Consent was agreed between CILEx Regulation and Mr. Hellewell.

Sanction
Paul Hellewell agreed to be excluded from CILEx for a period of 5 years.
