Charges
The charge brought against Mr Tahir Mahmood is:
Charge 1
Failing to uphold the rule of law and the impartial administration of justice, contrary to Principle 1 of the Code of Conduct for CILEx members.
The particulars were that on 14 March 2013 Tahir Mahmood, an affiliate Member of CILEx was, upon his own confession, convicted in the Crown Court at Birmingham of conspiracy to commit fraud by abuse of position contrary to section 1(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977. Mr. Mahmood was sentenced to a total of 6 years imprisonment.
Outcome
The charge was found proved.
Sanction
The Disciplinary Tribunal ordered that Mr Mahmood be excluded from membership indefinitely and that an application for reinstatement as a member should not be considered for a minimum period of 10 year from the date of the order.
