Charges
The charges against Sara Platts were:
Failing to maintain high standards of professional and personal conduct and justify public trust in her, her profession and the provision of legal services, contrary to Principle 2 outcome 2.2 of the CILEx Code of Conduct 2015.
The particulars to the charge were that Sara Platts was, on 15 February 2016, at Stafford Crown Court, tried and convicted of fraud by abuse of position, contrary to section 4 of the Fraud Act 2006, for being involved in the misappropriation of client funds.
Outcome
The Tribunal found the charges proven.
Sanction
The Disciplinary Tribunal ordered that Ms. Platts be excluded from CILEx membership for a period of 7 years with no automatic reinstatement. Ms Platts was ordered to pay costs.
